Looks like every two years I pop back in here to wave a hello. Hello!

I keep saying I will post art here again.. so here is something I did the other day. Getting tired of twitter.
I've gone back to doing art studies again, and started re-reading the Walt Stanchfield drawing essays.

Edit: I made a Dreamwidth account. http://wrat.dreamwidth.org/   LJ's new TOS makes me nervous.

talks to self

May. 21st, 2015 | 05:07 pm

I happened to look back at my old LJ entries, so weird reading them now because I was such a different person back then.

Nowadays I have this pinned to my desktop so it's the first thing I see every time I turn on my computer.

You have to make your own happiness, wherever you are. Your job isn’t going to make you happy, your spouse isn’t going to make you happy, the weather isn’t going to make you happy… You have to decide what you want, and you have to find that way of doing it, whether or not the outside circumstances are going to participate in your success… You have to be able to create your own happiness, period. People are as happy as they choose.

Pretty good advice eh, I forget who originally came up with it.. but I copied it to my pinboard thing one day and it's been there since. I shall make an effort to post more things that make me happy here in future. Don't wanna get TOO old and sad and cranky.

I have been reading Peter Beagle's The Last Unicorn, and he writes beautifully. Good fantasy writing is a delight.

Oh awesome! Looks like there are still some fine folk on my flist. How are you all?

I will probably start posting on LJ again. I miss the verbosity allowed in it, tumblr moves so so quickly and oftentimes it feels like I am talking into a void. Will still be tumblring of course, but yea sometimes I feel like talking to myself and LJ is still best for that.

Anyway, I have a tonne of OT work from the office to finish up at the moment, so will be back shortly.

Good to see you all again.

Drawing dumb comics so you don't have to.

Apr. 19th, 2011 | 01:00 am

Hey ho! LJ is still the best for posting up comic pages for ease of reading, please don't mind me and skip if irrelevant!

sticker designs for BATHS, and other places to find me

Jan. 29th, 2011 | 10:13 am
music: BATHS - Sleepless

A couple months back I did some work for the electronic musician BATHS, aka Will Wiesenfeld. The best and most fun project I have worked on in 2010! Some of them were made into tour stickers, of which Will has kindly sent me a bunch.

BATHS stickers that arrived yesterday!Collapse )

I haven't been using LJ quite as much as I used to, mainly the fault of places like Tumblr. I even have a few:

wratshit - my main personal tumblr
BRAST OFF! - Sengoku Basara art blog, shared with amei. I am also working on an ongoing comic about Basara Bankers here.
The Bagatelle Card Club - our boys in the band. All art of them are dumped here now.

Till next time!! <3333

Long overdue update, BASARA on the brain

Jan. 8th, 2011 | 01:44 pm
music: SWORD SUMMIT - TM Revolution

I have absolutely no excuses for this overdue post about Comic Fiesta, our trip to Malaysia, and New Year's amongst other things. It is because of a bad case of Sengoku Basara fever, brought about by good friends tongari and kitmun during our trip to Malaysia just before Christmas. Anyway, more on that later.

Ramblings about Comic Fiesta 2010Collapse )

Resolutions for 2011Collapse )

Now, pull up a chair and let me tell you about a little thing I fell for called...

Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes.

Basically, the game is set in Warring States period Japan and the gameplay is like Dynasty Warriors style, one man vs an army of THOUSANDSSSshsdhf. I have been a fan of the DW games for years but never really felt an urge to draw fanart of it, BASARA however..

Well it is mostly tongari's fault for gracing my flist and tumblr with all her beautiful Basara arts. sobsobsob

Ok this is definitely my last post of 2011 where I talk so much! Please enjoy my fevered BASARAAGH scribbles ahead!

Over and out,

:: BASARA ARTS:: - sketches, stupid crossovers, stupid Alternate Universes. Collapse )

In keeping with my New Year's resolution, I have made a start on some sequential pictures.

...the start of a comic about said Basara Alternate UniverseCollapse )

Picking the perfect present

Oct. 8th, 2010 | 01:19 am

I started Unwound Future at last, my progress has been pretty slow as I usually only have time to play when I am not asleep on the bus. It's great! Mostly I am surprised by Layton's reactions(or lackof, your CAR, sob) but everything is shaping up to be super exciting so far! No spoilers pleaseplease ;3;

I'm flying back home interstate for the weekend for amei's brother's wedding, yay get to see her again <33333

The Bagatelle Card Club, doodle dump II

Sep. 3rd, 2010 | 12:06 am
music: Last Dinosaurs - Saturn

Flat out exhausted. It seems to be quite the consistent thing this year. Desperately trying to cram some sketching in on most days, on better days there's a bit of colour but still nothing proper and polished, blargh! I could really do with a break, or a couple of rats again. Both.

I have been drawing nothing but our characters recently. Lots under the cut, all worksafe as alwaysCollapse )

that maddening puzzle music

Jul. 11th, 2010 | 11:14 am

Wouldn't it be funny if the Professor heckled you if you take too long to solve a puzzle?

Also along the puzzle vein, I downloaded Puzzle Bobble/Bust-a-Move for my Ipod! Many a happy childhood memory I had with this game and the original Bubble Bobble. Playable Flash version of Bubble Bobble

My favourite theme song of all time:

I'm also playing Chaos Rings*, recced by fluffyduck . It's so good, and easy to put down and pick up. :D I only wish my ipod had a longer battery life for it, it really sucks up the juice!

*which, incidentally, contain puzzles as well.

Finished a couple of trade pics,

Cut for Kavalier & Clay fanart, +1 of Professor LaytonCollapse )

I finally caved and bought an Ipod Touch yesterday. This thing is amazing! I have loaded it up with WAS vidsall sorts of junk, but mostly I am very intrigued by the range of apps one can download for it. Some useful, some completely stupid. Vuvuzela app? For reallll

I also bought the new We Are Scientists album Barbara from iTunes, they are mellower than before but I quite like it. And FUCK YEAH amei and I are gonna see em live this August when they play in Sydney, tix are GO!

More art for amei's comic story, I am kind of blurring the line of it being fanart or conceptual art now, because I've encroached upon this awesome new bandom universe of hers by designing one of her characters. (ilu for letting me do this! <33)
